Garden Bracelet with Citrine, Peridot, Iolite and Garnet Luxe Gemstones, November Birthstone

Citrine, Peridot, Iolite, Garnet Garden bracelet with Argentium sterling silver

Citrine, Peridot, Iolite, Garnet Garden bracelet with Argentium sterling silver

I have a supplier that sends me the most scrumptious gemstones. They are beautifully faceted, plump and have such amazing color and clarity. This bracelet was inspired by the lovely colors that Mother Nature provides in my garden (correction. The garden I used to have before we built our house and tore up every bit of landscaping we had).

This Citrine bracelet is made with golden Citrine ovals and Citrine, Peridot, Iolite and Garnet rondelles. I’ve used sterling wire guards for a professional look and the remainder of the metal components are Nickel-free, tarnish resistant Argentium Sterling silver.

Citrine promotes prosperity and a happy attitude for the solar plexus (3rd) chakra. It is also the birthstone for November. It is one of a handful stones that dissipates negative energy and never requires cleansing or clearing. It emits a warm energy that promotes optimism. It is used to attracts abundance and is known as “a merchant’s stone” to not only acquire positive wealth but to maintain it as well. It enhances the body’s healing energy and opens the conscious mind to intuition. It helps one adjust and adapt to process changes, leaving one feeling confident and secure.

Peridot opens the heart (4th) chakra and helps to heal any past hurts so you can be free to love again.

Garnet also works with the heart (4th) chakra, as well as the 1st (base) chakra. It symbolizes faith, love, devotion and trust. It is most famous for balancing our emotional states; therefore, it is one of the best stones for soothing emotional stress and balancing out anger that is held in and not expressed.

Iolite works with the brow (6th) chakra, or third eye to bestow a resonance of gentleness and inner knowing that soothes the mental body and balances the outer layer of the aura.

Inspiration Comes From The Strangest Places

I’m always on the lookout for shapes and colors that inspire me, but sometimes inspiration comes from the unlikeliest places. The other day I was sitting at my work space and a little golden filigree component caught my eye.

The way it was sitting in the tray made it look like an off-centred heart and it sparked my imagination.

I made a couple of elements out of copper wire then made my silver components. Since I have a really hard time replicating exact copies of something, I normally will use some tape to hold the 2 pieces together and bend them as a unit, hence the green tape.

When the components were done, I coiled on some thin silver wire and used a blanket stitch to add small Rhodolite Garnet gemstone beads to the outside edge.

The cluster of gemstones hanging beneath the heart is also made with Rhodolite Garnets and below that dangles a sparkly Mystic Topaz briolette with green and magenta pink flashes. Then I added a dark patina and hand polished it to a soft sheen. You can find these earrings in one of my shops.

Moonstone, A Soothing, Calming Gemstone and June Birthstone

Rainbow Moonstone Argentium Sterling Earrings

Rainbow Moonstone Argentium Sterling Earrings

Moonstone is the most magical looking of all gemstones, with its changing colors and the moonshine glow that flows across the gem’s surface. It was used in jewelry by the Romans who believed that the stone was formed from frozen moonlight because of its unearthly shimmer.

Moonstone is considered one of the birthstones for the month of June (the others are pearl and alexandrite) and is the gemstone to celebrate the 13th anniversary.

Moonstone is feldspar with a pearly and opalescent luster, called adularescence. The effect of adularescence, also commonly referred to as schiller or shiller, is best described as a milky, bluish luster or glow originating from below the surface of the gemstone. The schiller appears to move as the stone is turned (or as the light source is moved), giving the impression of lunar light floating on water (accounting for moonstone’s name).

Technically, the gemstone commonly called Rainbow Moonstone is more properly a colourless form of Labradorite, also a feldspar mineral, and can be distinguished from “true” moonstone by its greater transparency and play of colour. Rainbow Moonstone acts as a prism, diffusing energy throughout the aura.

Most moonstones are translucent and white, although grey and peach-colored varieties also occur.

Peach Moonstone can be used to help balance the 4th (heart) Chakra, and will help achieve a balance between heart and mind without losing the gentleness and caring needed, yet keep the emotions in check to allow you to function properly.

Moonstone has a reflective, calming energy; it works to soothe stress and anxiety. It enhances intuitive sensitivity, bringing balance and harmony. Helps all be more comfortable with our gentler feminine/yin receiving side, and to be more conscious of the fact that all things are part of a cycle of constant change. It is especially good at helping males get in touch with their feminine sides.

Moonstone is considered a stone of protection, said to protect women and children, particularly during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as to ease hormonal and menstrual discomfort.. In some countries, it is revered as a stone of fertility, and in some Middle Eastern countries women still sew moonstones into their clothing if they are hoping for a child.

The best way to recharge your moonstone is by the light of the moon. You can choose either the fresh energy of the new moon, or the potent presence of the full moon energy.

How does the point system work?
Posts, comments, and likes are all worth one point each. Your score is weighted by the quality of your participation. Higher quality activity (on topic with community engagement) will earn extra points. Lower quality activity (off-topic and spam) will earn fewer points. Consistent activity over time is more valuable than repeatedly performing the same action, such as clicking the Like button on every post.

How many points have I earned?
When you post, comment, or Like, you can see how many points you’ve earned by viewing our leader board.

Do I get points for posting directly to the Facebook page?
Of course.

How often do you calculate the rankings?
The rankings for each page are calculated at the end of the day and the rankings reset at the end of each month. The leaderboard for a new month is displayed on the 3rd of the month to allow a few days for the previous month’s points to be recorded.

What rewards do I get for climbing the leader board?
Each Rewards contest is held over a three month period (Feb/Mar/Apr). By the 10th of the 4rd month, the totals will be tallied and posted. Fans with over 300 points from the 3-month period will receive a special coupon code for 30% off any item in my shop. Also, one winner will be selected from the top 5  who are under 300 points for a coupon code for 20% off any item.

You can opt-out of our rankings here.

Venice Boardwalk

In June 2005, I took a trip to Europe for 3 weeks. I was travelling alone to start with because I was on my roundabout way to Croatia to meet up with a friend of mine who had left Canada before me. I’m a terrible traveller; I’m shy and don’t feel comfortable announcing that I’m a foreigner by speaking english to people. I even need to make sure I have enough snacks with me to last at least a day so I can get my bearing and figure out where to find food. My idea of jet lag is not the time change, it’s the fact that I never sleep well on planes and am feeling completely out of my element.

My first stop after I arrived in Europe was Venice and when I got off the small ferry that transported me from the mainland, it was dark and close to midnight. My hotel was not just a hole in the wall, it was a hole in the wall down a dinky, dark, narrow alley. Not fun to find with a packsack on, in the middle of the night. The next morning the sun was shining bright and hot. I went to the boardwalk along the waterway and found a huge tree to hide out under to protect my fair skin, and there was a nice, relatively cool breeze that close to the water. I’ve never seen such an intense blue as the sky and grand canal looking across to the Renaissance palaces. It was an absolutely beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the view while I waited for the ferry to take me to Slovenia for the next leg of my journey.

The intense blue of sea and sky reminds me of the Blue Topaz gemstones I’ve used in this wire wrapped pendant, and the shape is reminiscent of the top spire of the palaces of Venice, bringing back the wonder and joy of the start of my travels.

My Blog

I’m not the type to have long, wordy posts about my work, and I don’t want my blog to be all about self-promotion anyway, so I’ve decided to add a category of humorous posts, cartoons and pictures that I find around the ‘net. I hope they will make you smile and brighten your day just a little bit more.

Canadian Hunters

Several guys from Peterborough Ontario dressed up their truck with a guy tied to the roof.
The driver and passengers put on Moose Head costumes.
As they drove down the main street of Peterborough they caused about 6 accidents.
They were charged with Public Mischief and having open beer in a vehicle, Peterborough cops have no sense of humor.
